CAPSTONE PRoJECT STRANDS
Career-OrientedStudents choosing this strand begin by researching career areas of interest that they are considering pursuing after high school. Once they decide upon their career path, they need to identify a local company or organization that will sponsor or accept them for an internship/job shadow experience. Students must complete a minimum of 40 hours in their on-site experience.
Self-DevelopmentStudents choosing this strand will spend their time working to develop new skills, acquire a new knowledge base, construct or create something for which they have never had training. For instance, students may design & build a model/prototype; write, perform, produce, direct, or choreograph a play; write, edit, produce a short movie; start a business. This is the perfect opportunity for a student to create a course that they haven't had the opportunity to take in high school.
Service-OrientedStudents choosing this strand will devote their time toward community service. They should identify an unmet community need and then develop and implement a program to fulfill that deficit. These community service activities and events need to sustain the student for the entire school year. They could include organizing events, fundraisers, food drives, community clean up days, community outreach, or volunteering with regularity.
